# Upgrade

Run the installer again. It downloads the latest release, verifies the checksum, and replaces both
binaries:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/noket-dev/noket/main/install.sh | bash
```

```powershell
irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/noket-dev/noket/main/install.ps1 | iex
```

Before replacing the binaries, the installer stops the running connector through its supervisor, then
starts it again afterwards, so the new binary is the one that connects. Your `config.toml`,
credentials, node id, and logs in the [config directory](https://docs.noket.dev/reference/files/) are left alone.

## Pin a specific version

Both installers accept a version:

```bash
curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/noket-dev/noket/main/install.sh | bash -s -- --version v0.1.1
```

```powershell
& ([scriptblock]::Create((irm https://raw.githubusercontent.com/noket-dev/noket/main/install.ps1))) -Version v0.1.1
```

On macOS and Linux the environment variables `NOKET_VERSION` and `NOKET_INSTALL_REF` do the same job
without the extra `-s --`; they exist for automation.

## Manual upgrade

If you installed by hand, stop the connector, replace the binaries, and start it again:

```bash
noket down
# replace the binaries wherever you put them
noket up
```

Under a supervisor, stop and start the unit or task instead of using `noket down`.

Check what you are running with `noket --version`. The version of `noket` and `noketd` should match;
if they do not, the install directory has one file from each release, which happens when a manual copy
is interrupted.
