Sharing starts with a model. A model is one callable thing: it has a public id, a price, and its own budget. You can back it with a public API you already have a key for, or with an upstream on a machine where you run the connector. Either way, people call the model, not the API behind it.
Before you start
- A Noket account at noket.dev.
- For an external model: the API base URL, key, and model name, and a public
httpsorhttpendpoint. - For a model on your machine: the connector installed and running, with an upstream configured. Follow Connect a local model first.
1. Create the model
Open Models and choose Add model. Pick a source:
- External API — enter the API format (
openaioranthropic), base URL, key, and model name. Test connection checks them without saving. - Tunnel node — pick an online node and one of the upstream model ids it reports. The protocol, base URL, and key come from the node.
Then set the name and slug. The public id is your-username/your-slug; people pass that as model.
Add prices if you want cost reporting to reflect what the provider charges. Prices are informational —
request cost comes from the gateway’s usage data.
See Add a model for every field, including the advanced settings.
2. Set a budget
You are paying for the requests your members make, so set a limit before you share. On the model’s Quota tab, set the model-wide amount budget, token limit, and request limit, each with its own period. Leaving one blank means no limit for that item.
Start with the total you are willing to spend, then give each member a smaller slice in the next step. See Budgets and limits for how periods, concurrency, and resets work.
3. Add people
Open the Members dialog from the model card or the model page.
- Add member for an account that already exists. Enter a username or email, choose the role (Admin or Member), an access expiry, and the member’s limits.
- Invite to send an email to someone without an account yet. The link is valid for 7 days, and the role, expiry, and limits are stored with the invitation.
Review restates what will be committed. Only the owner can grant Admin. Pending invitations can be resent, edited, or revoked; resending replaces the link immediately.
See Share a model for the full set of rules.
4. Tell them how to call it
Send the model id and the API format. Each person creates their own key on the API keys page; an invitation or membership never creates a key for them. Their key is account-wide and inherits the access you granted.
Point them at Use a shared model for the request itself.
5. Watch and adjust
Usage shows cost, requests, tokens, and per-model totals; you can view your own usage or all of your models’. Logs lists individual requests with status, cost, and latency.
When someone should stop using the model, remove the member or revoke the invitation. Access ends immediately for every key in that account. Their spent amounts are not refunded or cleared. Pausing the model stops all new requests but keeps the configuration.
