Start with noket status and the log at ~/.noket/noketd.log. Between them they say whether you are
logged in, whether the connector is running, which node it registered, and the last error it saw.
noket status
tail -n 50 ~/.noket/noketd.logThe connector
not logged in, run noket login first
The connector has no credentials. Run noket login. If you just logged in and the
connector is already running, restart it: credentials are read at startup.
noketd is already running (pid N); not starting a second instance
A connector, background or supervised, already holds the tunnel. Nothing is wrong. Use noket status to
confirm, and stop it before starting another. If you expected no connector, a supervisor probably started
one — see Run as a service.
noketd is not running
noket down found nothing to stop. Under a supervisor this is normal: stop the unit or task instead.
The connector exits, and a supervisor restarts it forever
Look at noketd.log for the reason. A common one is a configuration file that no longer parses; fix the
reported line, and the next start succeeds. Another is a login that was removed: run noket login.
noket logout refuses to run
logout stops when a connector is running, because the connector would keep using the old login. Stop the connector
or its supervisor first.
The tunnel
The node shows offline in the console
The connector is not connected. Check that the process is running (noket status), that the machine has
network access, and that tunnel.url in config.toml is correct. The connector retries with backoff up to
about a minute, so a brief outage recovers on its own.
A model in the console has no node or upstream models
The node has not reported the upstream, or you are looking at a different node. Run
noket upstream list on the machine, confirm the node name matches, and
reload the console. Upstreams added from the console need the node to be online.
404 model_not_found
The model in the request does not match any id an upstream lists. Model ids are case-sensitive and must
match exactly. Compare the request with noket upstream list. If the id is listed but requests still
fail, the node may be serving an older config.toml; check noket status and the log.
Requests fail while the node is offline
Requests are not queued. A call made while the node is offline fails, and the client should retry later. Noket does not retry or fail over between upstreams.
Upstreams
connect to upstream "x": … or a probe timeout
The server is not reachable from the machine: wrong host or port, server not started, or a firewall between them. Probe from the same machine:
curl -sS http://127.0.0.1:11434/v1/modelsA probe times out after 10 seconds and reads at most 1 MiB.
Upstream answers 401 or 403
The key is missing, wrong, or not valid for that server. Re-enter it with
noket upstream edit and --api-key-stdin. For an Anthropic-protocol
upstream, check that the server expects x-api-key; for OpenAI, Authorization: Bearer.
the Base URL changed; provide a new API key, or use --clear-api-key…
Changing an upstream’s address requires a decision about its key, so a key issued for one host is not
silently sent to another. Pass a new key, or pass --clear-api-key if the new address needs none.
the upstream list changed on disk
Something else edited config.toml while your command had it open — another command, the console, or an
editor. Re-run the command; it reads the current file.
Two upstreams cannot list the same model id
Model ids must be unique across all upstreams on a machine, because the id alone decides which upstream serves a request. Rename or remove the duplicate.
The browser does not open, or the login page never completes
Copy the URL the command printed to a browser on any device where you are signed in to Noket, and approve it there. The request expires after about ten minutes.
parse ~/.noket/config.toml: …
The decoder rejects unknown keys and reports the line. Fix the line; the connector keeps using the previous configuration until it parses.
Console and API
401 from the Noket API
The API key is missing, deleted, or wrong. Create or recheck a key on API keys.
403 for one model while others work
Your account’s access to that model ended — an invitation expired, the owner revoked it, or the model is paused. Ask the owner, or check the model card in the console.
A budget error
The model or your member limit is exhausted. The error names the limit; the model card shows spent against limit and when a periodic limit resets. See Budgets and limits.
Usage or cost shows unknown
The gateway did not report usage for those requests. The console shows unknown instead of zero, so totals can be lower than expected. Cost figures are for budget control, not invoices.
Still stuck
Include in a report: the output of noket --version, noket status, the platform, and the relevant lines
from noketd.log. Remove keys, tokens, and any part of a prompt you do not want to share.
